Lawrence Golan opens York Symphony's 2019-20 season Oct. 12
York Symphony Orchestra's season premieres with epic dance works of prized composers from the past to the present. Tchaikovsky’s legendary ballet, Swan Lake, is based on Russian folk tales and infuses resonant tones with an unprecedented level of musical depth for ballets at its inception. Another cherished Russian piece, Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, steers the listener through three distinctive movements— foreboding, ghostly surrealism, and the last struggle. Audiences will also enjoy the vivacious and colorful musical sounds of Guggenheim Fellow Gabriela Lena Frank’s Three Latin-American Dances.
